Terms and conditions

1. Purpose

These Terms of Use govern the conditions of use and operation of the services provided through the COSMAS BIOSCIENCE website (the “Site”).

2. Definitions

The principal terms used in these Terms of Use are defined as follows:

(a) “Member” means a user who agrees to these Terms, provides personal information to register, enters into a service agreement with the Site, and uses the Site.

(b) “Service Agreement” means the agreement entered into between the Site and a Member concerning use of the Site.

(c) “User ID” or “ID” means the unique combination of letters and numbers assigned to a Member for identification and use of the services.

(d) “Password” means the combination of letters and numbers selected by a Member to verify that they are the person associated with their ID and to protect their rights and interests.

(e) “Operator” means the party that establishes and operates the Site to provide the services.

(f) “Termination” means the cancellation of the Service Agreement by a Member.

3. Additional Operating Policies

The Operator may publish separate operating policies as necessary. If these Terms and an operating policy overlap, the operating policy takes precedence.

4. Formation of the Service Agreement

(a) The Service Agreement is formed when an applicant agrees to these Terms, submits an application for membership, and the Operator accepts that application.

(b) Applicants indicate their agreement to these Terms by reading them and selecting “I Agree” during registration.

5. Applications to Use the Services

(a) Applicants must provide the information requested by the Site, including a User ID, Password, and nickname.

(b) Members who register using another person’s information or provide false information instead of their own accurate information may not assert rights relating to use of the Site and may be subject to penalties under applicable law.

6. Privacy Policy

The Site and the Operator do not hold the Passwords provided during registration. Matters relating to Passwords are governed by the Site’s Privacy Policy.

The Operator endeavors to protect Members’ personal information, including registration information, in accordance with applicable law.

The protection of Members’ personal information is governed by applicable law and the Site’s Privacy Policy.

The Operator accepts no responsibility for information exposed through a Member’s own fault.

If a Member posts or distributes unlawful content, including content contrary to public morals or national security, the Operator may review the Member’s information and provide it to the relevant authorities upon request.

7. Responsibilities of the Operator

(a) The Operator will address Members’ suggestions or complaints as promptly as possible when they are considered justified. If circumstances prevent a prompt response, the Operator will make reasonable efforts to communicate through a subsequent notice, a direct message, or email.

(b) To maintain continuous and stable service, the Operator may require prompt repair or restoration of failed or lost facilities. However, operation of the Site may be temporarily suspended due to natural disasters or other unavoidable circumstances affecting the Site or the Operator.

8. Responsibilities of Members

(a) Members must comply with these Terms, the Operator’s rules, notices and operating policies, other notices published on the Site, and applicable law. Members must not interfere with the Site’s operations or damage its reputation.

(b) Without the Site’s express consent, Members must not assign, transfer, give away, or pledge their right to use the services or their status under the Service Agreement.

(c) Members must exercise due care in managing their IDs and Passwords and must not allow a third party to use their ID without the consent of the Operator or the Site.

(d) Members must not infringe the intellectual property rights of the Operator, the Site, or any third party.

9. Service Availability

(a) The services are generally available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, unless operational or technical circumstances prevent this. Services may be temporarily interrupted for scheduled system inspections, upgrades, or replacements. Planned interruptions will be announced on the Site in advance, and Members should check these notices regularly.

(b) The Site may temporarily or permanently suspend services without advance notice in the following circumstances:

• Emergency system inspections, upgrades, replacements, failures, or malfunctions.

• National emergencies, power outages, natural disasters, or other events beyond the Site’s control.

• Suspension of telecommunications services by a facilities-based telecommunications provider under the Telecommunications Business Act of the Republic of Korea.

• Excessive service demand that prevents normal operation.

(c) Members will be notified of service interruptions through announcements or other notices in advance where possible. If advance notice is not possible because the interruption is beyond the Site’s control, notice will be provided afterward.

10. Termination of Service Use

(a) A Member wishing to terminate the Service Agreement must personally submit an online request to cancel their registration. Termination of the Service Agreement must be requested separately from discontinuing use of the Site.

(b) Upon submission of the termination request, the Site-related programs provided by the Site are automatically removed from the member management screen, and the Operator can no longer view the departing Member’s information.

11. Restrictions on Use

Members must not engage in any of the following activities. If they do, the Site may restrict their use, take lawful action, terminate the Service Agreement, or suspend services for a specified period.

(a) Providing false information during registration or when updating account information.

(b) Interfering with another person’s use of the Site or misappropriating their information.

(d) Infringing the personal or intellectual property rights of the Site or a third party, or interfering with their business.

(e) Using another Member’s ID without authorization.

(f) Collecting, storing, or disclosing another Member’s personal information without consent.

(g) Engaging in conduct objectively considered to be connected with criminal activity.

(h) Violating any other applicable law.

12. Management of Posted Content

(a) The Operator is responsible for managing and operating the Site’s posts and materials. The Operator must monitor inappropriate posts and materials, remove them when discovered or reported, and warn the Member who posted them. Members remain responsible for the content they post and must not publish content that violates these Terms.

(b) The Operator may remove or move posts without the Member’s prior consent in response to a corrective request from a public authority, including the Information and Communication Ethics Committee.

• Seriously insults or defames another Member or a third party.

• Distributes or links to material contrary to public order or accepted standards of decency.

• Encourages illegal copying or hacking.

• Constitutes advertising for commercial gain.

• Is objectively considered to be connected with criminal activity.

• Infringes another user’s or a third party’s copyright or other rights.

• Is otherwise considered to violate applicable law.

(d) If a third party requests the removal of content on grounds such as defamation or infringement of intellectual property or other rights, the Site and the Operator may temporarily disable access to that content. They will act in accordance with a court ruling, settlement, or equivalent decision by a relevant authority when it is submitted to the Site.

13. Preservation of Posted Content

If the Operator must discontinue the Site due to unavoidable circumstances, it will notify Members in advance and endeavor to take all measures necessary to facilitate the transfer of their posted content.

14. Copyright in Posted Content

(a) Copyright in content posted by a Member belongs to that Member. The Site may not use such content commercially without the author’s consent. This restriction does not apply to non-commercial use, and the Site retains the right to display the content within its services.

(b) Members must not commercially exploit materials available through the services, including by modifying or selling information obtained through their use of the services.

(c) If the Operator considers content posted or submitted by a Member to fall within any of the categories in Section 12, it may delete, move, or refuse to publish that content without prior notice.

15. Liability for Damages

(a) Members bear primary responsibility for civil and criminal liability arising in connection with their use of the Site.

(b) No compensation will be provided for losses arising from natural disasters or other events beyond the Site’s control, or from a Member’s intentional misconduct or negligence.

16. Disclaimers

(a) The Operator is not liable for a Member’s failure to obtain anticipated benefits from the services or for losses resulting from the selection or use of service materials.

(b) The Operator is not liable for disruptions to the Site’s service infrastructure or telecommunications services provided by other carriers. Losses relating to the Site’s service infrastructure are governed by these Terms.

(d) The Operator is not liable for service disruptions attributable to a Member.

(e) The Operator is not responsible for activities between Members or between Members and third parties, whether within or outside the services, including data transmission and other community activities.

(f) The Operator is not responsible for the authenticity, reliability, accuracy, or other qualities of materials posted or transmitted by Members or otherwise made available to Members through the Site.

(g) The Operator is not liable for losses arising from transactions in goods or other dealings conducted through the services between Members or between Members and third parties.

(h) The Operator is not responsible for disputes between Members or between Members and third parties where the Operator is not at fault.

(i) The Operator is not liable for Member losses caused by system failures arising during the management, inspection, maintenance, or replacement of servers or other equipment, or during software operation, in the absence of intentional misconduct or gross negligence comparable to intentional misconduct. This also includes losses caused by third-party attacks, computer viruses for which recognized research institutions or security providers have not developed countermeasures, or other events beyond the Operator’s control.

Effective Date

These Terms take effect on September 11, 2026.
